Sturdy aluminium frame with Horst-Link rear suspension and downhill geometry

The robust yet lightweight Fred frame, made from 6061 aluminium, has been specially developed for young downhill riders and freeriders: featuring tube dimensions suitable for children, a relatively low weight and an extra-robust construction for uncompromising downhill performance. The modern downhill geometry, featuring a slack 63° head angle and a low bottom bracket, combined with the Horst-Link rear suspension system, ensures responsive handling, optimum traction and a smooth ride over rough terrain. The decoupled braking and suspension movement allows technical trails to be tackled with greater control and efficiency.

High-performance suspension forks

The high-performance Fox 38 Performance Elite suspension fork with 180 mm of travel is specially tuned for the lighter weight of young riders – Kids Tuned. As a result, it offers particularly responsive handling and delivers top performance and control on rough terrain, technical trails and during big jumps.

Shock absorbers for maximum downhill performance – Kids Tuned

The fitted Fox Float X2 Performance Elite shock, with 180 mm of travel, is perfectly tailored to the low body weight of young downhill riders – Kids Tuned. It responds with exceptional sensitivity, offering efficient, finely controlled damping and progressive suspension, thereby ensuring outstanding traction, control and comfort on technical terrain as well as during fast descents and big drops. The rebound and compression settings can be individually adjusted to suit the trail and the rider’s personal preferences.

Downhill-optimised cockpit

The stem and handlebars, featuring a 25mm rise, are from Reverse Components; they are lightweight and robust, ensuring safe and controlled handling on fast, technical descents and big jumps. Shifting is handled by a smooth-operating SRAM NX trigger lever, whilst braking is provided by the reliable Magura MT5 4-piston disc brake with 203/180 mm rotors. The 1-finger HC aluminium brake levers can be perfectly adjusted to fit smaller children’s hands and offer precise control and maximum braking power with minimal effort.

Child-friendly crank. Powerful and sturdy.

We have specially designed the lightweight and robust VPACE SL children’s crankset to suit the anatomy of young riders. With a Q-factor of 150 mm, it allows for a natural leg position, resulting in greater pedalling efficiency and noticeably better power transfer. Thanks to the 3-hole direct mount, changing the chainring is a matter of seconds. The e*thirteen chain guide with bashguard ensures that the chain stays where it should, even at high speeds, and that no teeth are lost.

Scope of application

The FRED275 children’s downhill bike corresponds to a Category 5 mountain bike. Bikes in this category can be used on very rough and, in places, obstructed terrain, on challenging routes that require good riding technique, as well as in designated sports and bike parks. Jumps and drops of up to a maximum height of 122 cm may be encountered here. The FRED275 children’s bike has been designed for a rider weight of up to 60 kg.

Due to the greater stresses involved, bicycles in this category must be thoroughly checked for any damage after every ride.

The perfect size

The chart shows a recommendation based on body height. However, depending on your riding style, body proportions or personal preferences, a smaller or larger model may also be suitable. Simple adjustments, such as a longer or shorter stem, a different seatpost or the position of the saddle, allow you to tailor the bike perfectly to your needs.

The Ultimate Bikepark Hammer Machine for Young Shredders

I was looking for a bike focused strictly on downhill performance. In the kids' bike segment, this is quite problematic because most manufacturers build bikes for less demanding terrain. My 10-year-old son is already hitting black downhill tracks, so the choices at his age are very limited. I found that the FRED model ticked every single box I needed. I originally wanted the 265 model, but since it's out of production, we went with the FRED275. The bike comes truly ready to shred—proper tires (DoubleDown on the back), proper brakes (Magura MT5), and high-end suspension (Fox Performance Elite). I just added protective frame foil and pedals, and I don't have to upgrade a single thing (just need to fine-tune the suspension pressures and rebound for his weight). It's a little big for him at the moment (meant for the next season anyway), but as I said: zero compromises. Definitely recommended if your kid is sending it and shredding hard. Also, a huge thumbs up to VPACE because the bike was delivered 30 days BEFORE the deadline!
