Safe and controlled handling
The lightweight handlebars from VPACE, combined with the 40 mm stem from Reverse, ensure safe and controlled handling in all riding situations. Shifting is handled by a smooth-operating Sram X5 trigger shifter, whilst braking is provided by the reliable Magura MT4 disc brakes. The 1-Finger HC aluminium brake levers can be perfectly adjusted to fit smaller children’s hands and offer precise control and maximum braking power with minimal effort.
A lightweight carbon fork or a comfortable suspension fork
Lightweight, stiff, responsive. The carbon fork is ideal for anyone who prioritises low weight and maximum efficiency. The RST First Air suspension fork, with 50 mm of travel and a thru-axle, offers greater comfort and control off-road. It is specially tuned to the lighter weight of young riders – Kids Tuned – and therefore delivers particularly responsive handling and top performance on the trail.

A child-friendly crank. Powerful and clever.
We have specifically designed the lightweight VPACE SL children’s crankset to suit the anatomy of young riders with narrow hips. With a Q-factor of 150 mm, it allows for a natural leg position, resulting in greater pedalling efficiency and noticeably better power transfer. Thanks to the 3-hole direct mount, changing the chainring is a matter of seconds.
Circuit with high bandwidth
Whether riding steeply uphill or speeding downhill – with the robust SRAM X7 9-speed rear derailleur, young riders can change gears precisely, smoothly and reliably, whatever the terrain. Thanks to the wide gear range of the Microshift ADVENT 11-38 cassette, the right gear is always available in every situation, ensuring the riding experience never falls by the wayside.

Lightweight aluminium frame with UDH derailleur hanger
Thanks to the cleverly designed set of 6061 aluminium tubes, the Matz20 frame is extremely light, stiff and robust all at once. The geometry is sporty yet balanced and specifically tailored to the needs of young cyclists: a short rear triangle makes the bike particularly agile and makes it easier to shift your weight on more technically challenging terrain. Combined with a shortened top tube and head tube, the bike’s handling is noticeably improved, thereby increasing control and riding safety. A steep seat angle, combined with child-friendly cranks, supports ergonomic and efficient pedalling and helps to conserve valuable energy.
The 29er principle with lightweight wheels
With the VPACE 29er concept, we use large wheels across all model sizes. For example, a child who is 105 cm tall can already ride our Matz20 with 20-inch wheels. With other manufacturers, however, a 16-inch bike would be the norm. Why does this make sense? Because larger wheels roll more efficiently, offer a smoother ride and clear obstacles more easily. Combined with our particularly lightweight VPACE WTB i25 SL wheels, young mountain bikers benefit from significantly better acceleration, greater efficiency and improved safety – whether on the trail, on tours or in races. They can be easily converted to tubeless on request.

Scope of application
The Matz20 is a Category 3 mountain bike and is therefore ideally suited to rough trails, unpaved paths and technically challenging terrain. Jumps and drops of up to 60 cm are no problem, provided you have the right riding technique. Whether it’s a leisurely ride, a short loop on your local trail or a fast XC race, the Matz20 is up to the task. The Matz20 children’s bike has been designed for a rider weight of up to 35 kg.
The perfect size
The chart shows a recommendation based on body height. However, depending on your riding style, body proportions or personal preferences, a smaller or larger model may also be suitable. Simple adjustments, such as a longer or shorter stem, a different seatpost or the position of the saddle, allow you to tailor the bike perfectly to your needs.
