Lightweight aluminium frame with genuine 29ers

Thanks to the cleverly designed set of 6061 aluminium tubes, the Matz frame is extremely light, stiff and robust all at once. The geometry is sporty yet balanced and specifically tailored to the needs of young cyclists: a short rear triangle makes the bike particularly agile and makes it easier to shift weight on more technically demanding terrain. Combined with a shorter top tube and head tube, the bike’s handling is noticeably improved, thereby enhancing control and riding safety. A steep seat angle, combined with child-friendly cranks, supports ergonomic and efficient pedalling and helps to conserve valuable energy.

A child-friendly crank. Powerful and clever.

We have specifically designed the lightweight VPACE SL children’s crankset to suit the anatomy of young riders with narrow hips. With a Q-factor of 150 mm, it allows for a natural leg position, resulting in greater pedalling efficiency and noticeably better power transfer. Thanks to the 3-hole direct mount, changing the chainring is a matter of seconds.

Smooth-operating switch with 500 per cent bandwidth

Whether riding steeply uphill or fast downhill – with the robust 12-speed SRAM GX Eagle rear derailleur, young riders can change gears precisely, smoothly and reliably, whatever the terrain. Thanks to the wide gear range of the 10–50 cassette, the right gear is always available in every situation, ensuring the riding fun never falls by the wayside.

Ergonomic cockpit for optimum control

The lightweight handlebars from VPACE, combined with the 70 mm stem from Reverse Components, ensure safe and controlled handling in all riding situations. Gear changes are made using a smooth-operating Sram GX trigger shifter, whilst braking is handled by the reliable Magura MT4 disc brakes. The 1-finger HC aluminium brake levers can be perfectly adjusted to fit smaller children’s hands and offer precise control and maximum braking power with minimal effort.

29er principle with lightweight VPACE SL wheels

With the VPACE 29er concept, we use large wheels across all model sizes. For example, a child who is 150 cm tall can already ride our Matz29 with 29-inch wheels. With other manufacturers, however, it would be a 27.5-inch bike. Why does this make sense? Because large wheels roll more efficiently, offer a smoother ride and clear obstacles more easily. Combined with our exceptionally lightweight VPACE SL wheels featuring Duke Lucky Star Ultra rims (1,550 grams), young mountain bikers benefit from significantly better acceleration, greater efficiency and improved safety – whether on the trail, on tours or in races. They can be easily converted to tubeless on request.

Scope of application

The Matz29L is a Category 3 mountain bike and is therefore ideally suited to rough trails, unpaved paths and technically challenging terrain. Jumps and drops of up to 60 cm are no problem, provided you have the right riding technique. Whether it’s a leisurely ride, a short loop on your local trail or a fast XC race, the Matz29L is up to the task. This youth bike has been designed for a rider weight of up to 70 kg.

Our children’s bikes can be ridden for two years from the start of the recommended size range and accommodate a growth of approximately 15 cm. Once the seat post and stem have been adjusted, this can be extended to 20 cm.

The perfect size

The chart shows a recommendation based on body height. However, depending on your riding style, body proportions or personal preferences, a smaller or larger model may also be suitable. Simple adjustments, such as a longer or shorter stem, a different seatpost or the position of the saddle, allow you to tailor the bike perfectly to your needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

VPACE Kids Bikes are sporty bicycles and components designed specifically for children, setting new standards in quality, performance and design:

  • Lightweight
  • Well-thought-out, child-specific geometry
  • Larger wheels thanks to the 29er principle
  • Top-quality components from renowned manufacturers
  • Good value for money
  • Low actual running costs due to the high resale value

On the one hand, you can really put our bikes through their paces at our Test Centre partners and experience the VPACE ‘aha’ moment; and on the other hand, you can visit our showroom in Horgenzell, where you can view all our kids’ bikes and even take them for a test ride.

Your bike will arrive in a box, fully pre-assembled, perfectly adjusted and ready to go. All you need to do is take the bike out of the box and carry out the following final assembly steps yourself:

  1. Straighten the handlebars
  2. Fit the front wheel
  3. Adjust the saddle to the correct height
  4. Screw on the pedals
The right frame size depends primarily on height and inseam. To do this, measure your child’s height without shoes and determine their inseam (inside leg length)

1. Measure height

To determine height, have your child stand barefoot, upright with their back against a wall. Now place a book horizontally on their head and measure the distance from the floor to the bottom edge of the book.

2. Measure the inseam

To determine the inseam, have your child stand barefoot, upright with their back against a wall, clamp a book between their legs and pull it upwards into their crotch with the top edge horizontal. Now measure the distance from the floor to the top edge of the book. The length you’ve measured is your child’s inseam.

3. Determining the right bike size / frame size

As well as height, inseam length also plays an important role in determining the right bike size/frame size. To ensure your child can ride safely, their inseam length should be at least equal to the standover height of the selected size.
